Vision Day     -    PAGE 1

High Street, Halberton

The most important issues
identified during the day were:

Road Safety: a 20 mph speed limit and a safe pedestrian walkway along High Street. Traffic calming in Lower Town

Car Parking: Off road car-parking near the Barge Inn, and in Lower Town to cater for the school and church

More facilities for young people, and a
designated youth space

More facilities for sports/sports club

Day centre / luncheon club
for older people

The need for affordable housing
for local people

Enhancing facilities along the canal
and improving footpath access.

The next step will be to form a Steering Group for the Plan, where the issues identified through the Vision Day will be developed into an action plan.

They will identify how key projects and initiatives in the parish will be taken forward, receiving strong support from the Parish and local Councils, and financial assistance from the Countryside Agency and other sources.

This is where we
need your help

A number of people have already put there names forward at the Vision Day to help with the ongoing process, but we are looking for more volunteers from all parts of the parish who are able to offer some of their time, expertise and experience to make a contribution.

Please contact Mrs. Pat Armstrong on tel. 820048 or any other Parish Councillor to find out more.

The first meeting of the Volunteers will be held on Wednesday 11th June at 7pm at Halberton Village Hall, and anyone who would like to contribute to the Group is welcome to attend.

It is our intention to form a Steering Group at that meeting.
